CUSTOMERS at Barclays Bank Tanzania (BBT), will now have priveledge to open a bank account within 20 minutes.
Speaking during the launching of a program namely ‘Barclays Operating Customers’ (BOC) in the City of Dar es Salaam at the weekend, BBT Ag. Head of Marketing and Corporate Relations, Joel Bendera said that the bank becomes the first bank in Tanzania to start the system that can help customers to open an account for a maximum period of 20 minutes.
The Barclays marketing chief said the operation for this program will be started in two branches. “We will start the operation in two branches Sleep Way and Ohio branches and we hope to expand the operation” he said.
He moreover said this program will help customers to save their time to open an account and not only saving the time to open an account but also even the requirements are very simple which are work identity, settlements identification and sources of income of the customer.
On his part, Barclays Head of Customers Network Retail Banking, Emmanuel Katuma said they have research and testing much the operating system and approve that it can work effectively and accurately.
“We are sure that this program will be successfully and the first in the country because we have spend our time and resources to come up with” said Katuma.
He however said that this program will help the bank to get many customers especially the new account openers, where as one customer may require only 20 minutes maximum to open a new account.
“Before starting this operating we were having the capacity of opening ten to twenty account in one branch but now we will have ability to open one account in every twenty minutes you can see how many accounts can be opened per day in one branch” he added.
Barclays bank has 17 branches in the country and expecting to open new branches soon. The branches are available in 10 regions in the country.
