Applications for Admission into Degree
Courses for Academic Year 2014/2015
1. 1. INTRODUCTION
The National Council  for  Technical  Education (NACTE)  in
collaboration with Tanzania Commission for Universities
(TCU) inform all prospective applicants that, the Central
Admission  System (CAS) is  now  open for all  applicants
with Ordinary  Diploma qualifications (NTA/UQF Level 6) and
its equivalent. In that regard, all holders of diplomas and their
equivalences will apply for admission into degree courses
offered by Higher Education Institutions (HEI) for the
2014/2015 academic year through CAS. The following are
the prospective applicants through this category:
a) Applicants with Diploma in Teacher Education who
completed their training between 1988 to 2013 and those
who will complete in 2014;
b) Applicants with Full Technician Certificates (FTC)
who completed  from  1988 onwards;
c) Applicants who completed their Ordinary Diploma (NTA
Level 6);
d) Applicants with any other post-secondary qualification
such as Certificate or Diploma that may be deemed
equivalent to Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) as established
by the Council (NACTE); and
e) Applicants with foreign certificates befitting criteria (d).
2.       ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS FOR ADMISSION INTO
DEGREE COURSES
Any diploma holder aspiring to join a degree course offered
by higher education institutions must possess BOTH
conditions (A) and (B) as given below:
Condition A
At least Four O level passes (D’s and above) or NVA level III
with less than four O level
Passes or equivalent foreign qualifications as established by
either NECTA or VETA;
AND
Condition B
1. i. Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) with at least GPA of
2.7; or
2. Full Technician Certificate (FTC) with at least points average
of 2.7 (where A=5, B=4, C=3 and D=2 points); or
3. Diploma in Teacher Education with an average of ‘C’ grade;
or
4. Health related awards such as Clinical Medicine and others
with average of ‘B’ grade; or
5. Credit class diploma for classified diplomas and certificates
in terms of ‘distinctions, credit or pass’ or
6. Lower Second Class diploma for classified non-NTA
diplomas; or
7. Average of ‘B’ grade or lower second class in One year
foundation certificate offered by Universities for A level
candidates as approved by TCU; or
8. Average of ‘B’ grade or lower second class in recognized
pre-entry programme offered by technical institutions
accredited by NACTE for both A level and Diploma holders
with lower than minimum entry requirements.
3.          HOW TO APPLY
All applicants with diploma qualifications or equivalent
should apply for admission into degree programmes through
CAS.
1. The Central  Admission  System(CAS)  may be accessed
through NACTE  or TCU websites www.nacte.go.tz or
www.tcu.go.tz;
2. Applicants will  be  required  to choose  3 to  5
programmes of  their  choices with maximum of two
programme choices from one institution;
3. All applicants are  advised to follow carefully the  stages
for  registration and application as stipulated in Admissions
Guidebook for Higher Education Institutions to avoid any
inconveniences.
4.             MODE OF PAYMENT (APPLICATION FEE)
All applicants will be required to pay nonrefundable
application fee of Tshs 50,000/= through M-PESA as
stipulated below:
The payments will be done through M-PESA by using steps
as follows:
1. Dial *150*00#
2. Select 4. (Payments);
3. Select 4. (Enter Business Number);
4. Enter the Business Number now, (please enter 607070);
5. Enter Reference No. (please enter 1234); 6. Enter Amount
(please enter amount of application fee required);
7. Enter PIN; and
8. Press 1 to Confirm
5.       IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE
All applicants are advised to COPY and keep in safe place
their confirmation number for M-PESA payment for future
reference and payment confirmation while applying on CAS.
Applicants are advised to read carefully the admission
requirements of each programme they anticipate to apply in
the Guidebook as may be updated from time to time before
finalizing application process in  order to  avoid problems
that may arise due to  failure  to follow appropriate
instructions.
6. THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION
The deadline for application for applicants who had
completed their studies in year 2013 and before will be 30 th
June 2014 and for applicants who will complete their studies
in 2014 will be on 31 st July 2014.
